Living in Palma Sola Trace offers many benefits and advantages including being minutes to the Gulf of Mexico. Advantages often have Disadvantages which in our case is hurricane season which starts June 1.
Now is the time to thoroughly be prepared for the Atlantic Hurricane Season. Residents are encouraged to have at least 7 days of supplies which include food, water, medicine, batteries, etc.
During the past few years, four hurricanes have made landfall in Florida, including Hurricane Michael, the first hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. as a Category 5 since Hurricane Andrew in 1992.
Tropical storms are classified as follows:
Tropical Depression: A tropical cyclone with maximum sustained winds of 38 mph (33 knots) or less.
Tropical Storm: A tropical cyclone with maximum sustained winds of 39 to 73 mph (34 to 63 knots).
Hurricane: A tropical cyclone with maximum sustained winds of 74 mph (64 knots) or higher.

Do not underestimate the amount of work needed to fill ten bags and transport the sand bags back home.
Depending on how full you fill your bag, it can weigh 35-50 pounds. Ten bags can add 500 pounds to your vehicle.
